Visiting the Capital City & Central South Carolina
You’ll find it pleasantly easy to make the most of your next visit to central South Carolina. From the impressive list of must-see attractions in the capital city of Columbia, to the quaint and charming fun you’ll have in Santee and Walterboro, central SC is an A+ destination. And during the fall and winter, this region of the Palmetto State is supremely inviting.
Plan your visit to the central region of SC this fall or winter and be sure to spend time exploring all you can in Columbia. Sterling and unique attractions like the Woodrow Wilson Family Home, South Carolina State Museum, and the iconic Finlay Park Fountain should certainly be atop your travel agenda, but there are a whole slew of premier events, festivals, concerts, and more waiting this fall.
Venture over to the City Roots Urban Sustainable Farm and Event Venue on October 3rd for the 5th Year Anniversary Harvest Dinner. More than eight will be on hand to assemble an amazing five-course meal, paired expertly with cocktails, wine, music, and more. It all starts at 6:30 p.m.
On November 11th, Columbia will celebrate two of its most-cherished pastimes – art and alcohol. Make your way to the Columbia Museum of Art this November for the annual Arts & Draughts event. Held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., Arts & Draughts will feature a wide selection of beer tastings, interactive art, a fun scavenger hunt, and live music.
An ideal destination for families visiting the central SC region is the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. From October 21st to the 30th, you’ll be able to check out the Boo at the Zoo event, a fun and festive way to celebrate Halloween. You’ll find a trick-or-treat trail, a haunted carousel, and more – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly.
While many SC visitors will enjoy fun-filled days exploring the depths of Columbia, there’s plenty more areas to explore. Be sure to plan for some time in Florence this fall – you’ll be treated to one of the premier live music events of the year. Visit the Florence Civic Center on September 22nd at 7 p.m. and see country music superstar Toby Keith live on stage.
