Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens

A U.S. Historic district, the Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens is located in Mount Pleasant – a suburb of Charleston on the South Carolina coast. Constructed in 1850, the antebellum structure is also listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Covering 16 acres, Boone Hall is reached by the mile-long Avenue of Oaks. Also an African American Historic Places in South Carolina, the site also features Boone Hall Farms.

Charles Pinckney National Historic Site & Snee Farm

Located along South Carolina’s scenic Atlantic coast, the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site and Snee Farm features over 28 acres of historic scenery in Mount Pleasant. The site was the former home to Revolutionary War veteran and U.S. Constitution contributor Charles Pinckney.

The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and has been delighting visitors and history buffs alike ever since. Join over 40,000 annual visitors in taking tours of the home and viewing some of the historic exhibits and artifacts.

Fort Moultrie

A former military base, Fort Moultrie educates visitors in Sullivan's Island visitors in the Charleston Harbor area.

Fort Moultrie National Monument

Located on South Carolina’s gorgeous coast, the Fort Moultrie National Monument offers visitors a wealth of scenery and history wrapped into one great attraction. Just outside of Mount Pleasant, this National Park was originally constructed in 1776 as active military base, but has since been transformed into a tourists’ delight.

Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests

The Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests encompass more than 629,000 acres of land in South Carolina. Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum

Set on the Cooper River, the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is located on the South Carolina Coast in Mount Pleasant. Found near Charleston, Patriots Point is a collection of naval museums on the Charleston Harbor.

The three museums are found on the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, the USS Laffey destroyer, and the USS Clamagore submarine. The Yorkton features the 25 naval aircraft, and the Medal of Honor Museum.

Sewee Visitor & Environmental Education Center

Located along South Carolina’s Atlantic coast, the Sewee Visitor and Environmental Education Center provides ample amounts of forest and ocean ecosystems on display. The center is located outside of Mount Pleasant, making the displays convenient to reach.

Once there, you’ll find plenty of activities ensuring an informative and entertaining experience. Guests frequently enjoy the endangered red wolf view area, the classroom and laboratory setting often holding lectures, and the nature trail – a one-mile loop traversing the pond, red wolf enclosure, and surrounding wooded area.

The Center for Birds of Prey
