Just 20 miles north of Charleston and 100 miles southeast of Columbia, the Francis Marion National Forest is the place to be. Stretching over hundreds of miles of the South Carolina coast, this National Forrest along with the Sumter National Forest is 250,000 acres of Carolina country.

You may explore the rugged inland mountains of the Francis Marion National Forest, all the way down to the breezy coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Discover a number of ranger districts in the forest, including the Enoree Ranger District, and the mysteriously titled Francis Marion Ranger District. Mountain biker? Check out the Forks Area Trail System of the Long Cane Ranger District. Need to get on the water during your getaway? Coast down the nine-mile canoe trail in the Francis Marion Ranger District.
