Visiting the South Carolina Upcountry
A summertime visit to South Carolina’s Upcountry can mean all sorts of adventures in Kings Mountain State Park or finding a sense of Palmetto State personality in communities like Fort Mill, Greenville, Piedmont, and Seneca. Whether you’re visiting for business, on a quick jaunt with friends, or vacationing with the family, it won’t be hard to find plenty to see and do this season in northwest South Carolina.
South Carolina’s lush landscape is at its most colorful in the spring and summer, and there’s no better way to explore it all than by embarking on a scenic driving tour. From the urban setting of Fort Mill, in the shadow of the Charlotte skyline, to the wooded wonderland of Sumter National Forest, near Seneca, countless attractions await road trippers.
Music fans head to the Furman University campus in Greenville for a performance by piano pop powerhouse Ben Rector on March 31st. The music kicks in at 8 p.m.
Seneca visitors in for a good laugh can head to the Walhalla Civic Auditorium in nearby Walhalla to see a live production of the comedy Duck Hunter Shoots Angel. Running June 17th through 26th, the show centers on a pair of brothers from Alabama who think they've shot an "angel."
Back by popular demand, Riverdance, international Irish dance phenomenon, celebrates 20 years with the Riverdance 20th Anniversary World Tour, stopping at Peace Center in Greenville for a string of shows, June 28th through July 3rd. Check the schedule for your chance to see this one-of-a-kind blend of dance, music and song.
Savor a true taste of South Carolina by being a part of Euphoria 2016, this year’s iteration of one of South Carolina's premier culinary events. From September 22nd through the 25th, venues across downtown Greenville host exclusive tasting events, cooking workshops, live music while the conviviality is kept alive by all sorts of beer, wine, and spirits.
